Amby Health
A two-person Y Combinator startup that launched in early 2025 with a pitch to automate billing and quality review for ambulance agencies. By September 2026 its own website and several funding databases describe a different product: a consumer coaching app that texts endurance athletes about their training.
Two names, two companies, one website
Type tryamby.com into a browser today and a headline appears: “The coach that texts you first.” Below it, a phone mockup shows a text message about interval training and hydration. The page talks about Strava, Garmin, Apple Health, heart rate variability, and an 11 week training streak. Nowhere on it is the word ambulance.
That is not what Amby Health said it was building when it launched through Y Combinator. Its Y Combinator company page and launch post both describe a business to business tool: “Ambulance agencies (EMS) waste time and lose revenue due to manual quality reviews and billing, leading to missed errors, under-documented care, and delayed reimbursements.” The Y Combinator company page itself now carries the title “Amby Health: The health coach that texts you first,” with the original EMS launch post preserved underneath it as a prior chapter.
Two independent data services corroborate the switch. PitchBook describes the company as a “Developer of an AI-powered software designed to act as a fitness coach to deliver adaptive workouts,” and records an Early Stage VC deal dated February 2026. Extruct.ai’s funding hub says plainly that “Amby is a personal training coach that builds weekly plans around a user’s goals, schedule, and recovery,” while still listing the company’s Y Combinator description as “AI Copilot for Ambulance Agencies (EMS).”
Put together, the record shows a startup that pitched EMS software in the Winter 2025 batch and, sometime before its Y Combinator profile was last edited, redirected the same team and domain toward a wearable-linked fitness coach.
The problem it said it was solving, first
The original pitch targeted a real administrative bottleneck. Every ambulance run generates a patient care report, or PCR, reviewed for documentation quality and coded for billing before an agency is reimbursed. Fire departments and private ambulance services often do that review by hand, and a badly documented or miscoded PCR can mean a denied claim or a compliance flag. Amby Health’s pitch was to review 100 percent of PCRs automatically and in real time, catching missing documentation and flagging billable charges before a claim goes out the door.
The company’s own number for what that is worth: “One fire department increased EMS revenue by 33% (from $350K to $500K) simply by improving its review process.” That figure appears in both the Y Combinator company page and the Y Combinator launch post. Neither names the department, and no independent source repeats or verifies it.
Founders
Yos Wagenmans and Timmy Dang are both described in the company’s own materials as MIT dropouts. The Y Combinator page describes Yos as “MIT dropout, ex-Meta engineer, ML researcher at MIT CSAIL, and former engineer at Allm, a company providing pre-hospital emergency care,” and Timmy as “MIT dropout, ex-Amazon/Bloomberg engineer, AI researcher at MIT Media Lab, and healthcare data scientist at OM1.” A 2024 to 2025 MIT Athletics roster page for the men’s squash team, built and maintained by the university rather than the company, independently lists Yos Wagenmans as a computer science major who worked as a “Software Intern at Allm Inc.” and held a UROP position at the “CSAIL Haystack Group,” matching the Allm and CSAIL claims in the company’s own bio. No comparably independent record for Timmy Dang’s prior roles was found.
A funding trail with two different numbers
Several third party trackers report a $500,000 seed round around March 2025. A Signalbase news item states: “Amby Health, a company focused on emergency medical services (EMS) technology, has raised $500,000 in new investment capital.” The aggregator startupintros.com lists the same figure with a “Mar 1, 2025” date and names Jenny Fielding, Scott Hartley, Sequoia Capital, Streamlined Ventures, and Y Combinator as investors, with no lead specified. Tracxn separately confirms “$500K in 1 round” as of a mid-2026 snapshot.
PitchBook disagrees. Its investor table lists only two backers, SBXi and Y Combinator, records an “Accelerator/Incubator” deal dated January 2025 and a separate “Early Stage VC” deal dated February 2026, and answers its own FAQ, “How much funding has Amby Health raised over time,” with “$50K.” That is a tenfold gap from the figure the other trackers report, and it lines up with the February 2026 deal being tied to the fitness coach product rather than the original EMS pitch.
No Form D notice for a company named Amby Health, Amby Health Inc., or a close variant turned up in an SEC EDGAR company search run in September 2026. The only EDGAR match on the name “Amby” is AmbyTech Inc., a Delaware corporation based in San Diego that filed a Form D on December 13, 2024 for a $3.2 million offering, with $3,025,000 sold to two investors. Its listed officer is Abhijit Bose, with related persons Amiya Kumar Pathak and Neil Sequeira, none of whom appear anywhere else in Amby Health’s materials. That filing is a different company and is not used as evidence here.

Read plainly: almost everything that can be checked about Amby Health’s original EMS product is either a company claim or a data aggregator restating that claim. The one fact that is independently checkable and confirmed, a founder’s student background, has nothing to do with ambulances. And the most concrete thing on the record as of September 2026, the live product on the company’s own domain, is not the EMS tool the company launched with. Whether that means the EMS product shipped, stalled, or was set aside for a different idea from the same team is not something the public record answers.
What to watch
- Whether the EMS billing and quality review product is still sold, and to whom, or whether tryamby.com’s fitness coach is now the company’s only live product.
- A Form D or other SEC filing under Amby Health’s own name, which would settle the $500,000 versus $50,000 question.
- Any named EMS agency, fire department, or ambulance service that confirms it uses or used the product.
- Whether the company changes its name, since “Amby Health” as a name still points investors and directories toward the EMS story.
