Asha Health

A New York startup that sells medical practices a bundle of AI agents meant to look after chronic care patients between office visits. Backed by Y Combinator’s Fall 2024 batch, it says its software already reaches more than 100 physicians, though no independent filing, clinical study or SEC record has surfaced to confirm the company’s numbers.

The pitch: a clinic between visits

Asha Health does not build a device or run a clinic of its own. It sells medical practices software that it calls an AI clinic, a set of AI agents and what the company describes as AI assisted auxiliary staff meant to keep in touch with chronic condition patients in the weeks between doctor visits. On its Y Combinator company page, the pitch is direct: the platform is “designed to fill crucial care gaps that their brick & mortar clinics are too overburdened to address.”

The company says the AI clinic runs without added staff time, coordinating outreach, education and check ins on a recurring basis, then folding the resulting billing, mainly chronic care management codes under value based care arrangements, back to the practice as new revenue. Asha lists internal medicine, cardiology, pulmonology, urgent care and emergency department practices among the specialties it targets, according to its Y Combinator listing.

The problem it says it is solving

The company frames the opportunity around a familiar gap in American primary and specialty care. An estimated 120 million Americans live with a chronic condition, and an occasional office visit, once every few months, is not enough contact to manage one well. Patients need ongoing education, accountability and support, but practices are busy running day to day operations and have little spare capacity to provide it, the company argues in its own materials and in coverage that echoes them almost word for word.

The American Bazaar, an independent outlet that covered the company’s November 2024 launch, summarized the case similarly: practices are “swamped with daily operations and are unable to deliver this level of care,” leaving a gap Asha aims to fill with automated, insurance billed outreach. That framing has not yet been tested against outcomes data, published results or a named list of practices using the product, all of which remain absent from the public record as of this writing.

Founders

Asha Health was founded in 2024 by Akkshay Khosla and Gokul Kumarresen, described on the company’s Y Combinator page as best friends of more than ten years. Before starting Asha, Khosla worked as a product manager at Google leading a portfolio of generative AI products. Kumarresen worked in growth engineering at Brex. Both the American Bazaar and the Y Combinator listing say the pair were driven in part by their own experience with rare chronic conditions, and that they spent more than a year in discussions with digital health operators and chief medical officers before starting the company, eventually finding support from health system executives.

Some secondary sources spell the CEO’s surname “Khoslaa” rather than “Khosla,” a discrepancy across the sites that track the company; this page uses the spelling on Y Combinator’s own listing and in the company’s launch coverage.

Timeline

Asha Health entered Y Combinator’s Fall 2024 batch and launched publicly in November 2024, the same month the American Bazaar and the blog Hiretop both published write ups of the company. By December 1, 2024, according to the funding tracker Startup Intros, Asha closed a $500,000 seed round with participation from O’Shaughnessy Ventures and Y Combinator. As of September 2026, Y Combinator still lists the company as active with a team of nine. No later funding announcement, product milestone or named customer has surfaced in the sources checked for this page.

What is proven, and what is still claimed

Operations track. Asha Health is a software vendor, not a device maker, and none of the usual clinical evidence markers apply: no FDA clearance, no registered trial, no NIH or NSF award tied to the company, and no peer reviewed paper turned up in a PubMed search. What exists instead is accelerator backing, a handful of funding trackers, and the company’s own claims about its reach.

Valuation and total raisedThe tracker Premieralts estimates a $30.0 million post money valuation as of December 2024 and $3.5 million raised in total. That figure is seven times the $500K total reported by Startup Intros and Tracxn for the same period.Differs from other trackers
SEC Form DAn EDGAR full text search for “Asha Health” across all form types returns no results as of September 25, 2026, and no company by that name appears in the SEC company search. A Regulation D offering does not always require a Form D, so this absence does not by itself mean no money changed hands. Not found

Read plainly, Asha Health has an accelerator credential and a reported seed check, but almost everything past that point is disputed or unverified. Three different trackers give three different pictures of how much money the company has raised, who backed it and even where it is based. The company’s claim of reaching over 100 physicians has not been matched to a named practice, a case study or a regulatory filing.

What to watch

  • Whether Asha Health ever files a Form D or another SEC record that would settle how much it has actually raised.
  • Named clinic or health system customers, rather than an unspecified physician count.
  • A consistent account of total funding and valuation, given the gap between trackers reporting $500K and $3.5M for the same period.
  • Any published data on patient outcomes or chronic care metrics tied to the AI clinic product.
