BeWell Digital
A Coimbatore based teleradiology and cloud PACS platform that let radiologists read scans from anywhere. Backed by Y Combinator’s Winter 2021 batch, it signed on dozens of hospitals in south India, then went quiet. Y Combinator now lists it as Inactive.
A hard delivery, then a company
Alagiri Senthilkumar and his wife, a doctor, had relocated to Canada when she became pregnant. The birth was complicated by high blood pressure, and the couple went through what YourStory’s reporter called tremendous stress before both mother and baby came home safe. Alagiri decided the experience should turn into a healthtech company, one built around digitising patient information and making it move between systems.
“When I realised this is the idea to go after, and the one big thing that we wanted to achieve in our life, I called my friend Vishnu Vardhana Balu to ask if he would join me in building the business,” Alagiri told YourStory in March 2022.
The two applied to Y Combinator with a different idea first: internet clinics and digital hospitals. They were accepted into the Winter 2021 batch, YC’s largest ever cohort of Indian startups, 43 companies. Alagiri and his wife gave up their Canadian permanent residency to move back and register the company in Coimbatore. Six months after Demo Day, the founders shifted direction toward a gap they had found in teleradiology.
The problem
Radiology in India runs on a shortage. Reports have to be read by a licensed radiologist, and there are not enough of them to sit in every hospital and scan centre around the clock. BeWell Digital’s own framing of the problem, posted on its Y Combinator profile, put a number on it at the global scale: “4 Billion radiology scans are generated every year, but unfortunately, 1 in 5 reports are wrong and 35% of the studies are delayed. It can be primarily attributed to access and efficiency.”
The company’s answer was a cloud PACS, the software that stores and displays medical images, paired with a reporting workflow a radiologist could run from a laptop or phone instead of a hospital workstation. “With our software, doctors can report from vacation places or even report in the middle of the night if there's an emergency case in the hospital,” Alagiri said.
Founders
Both founders are software engineers who trained at PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore. Alagiri had worked as a product manager at Zenefits, the Silicon Valley HR tech company. Vishnu had been a senior full stack architect at IPAOO, a website builder platform. As CTO, Vishnu led engineering; Alagiri, as CEO, ran product and customer relationships. Ministry of Corporate Affairs records list them as the Indian entity’s two directors, appointed when it was incorporated on January 20, 2021.
Building the customer base, then silence
BeWell Digital started with a single hospital, City Hospital in Dindigul, and built the product around that client’s needs before expanding. By March 2022 the company told YourStory it had onboarded 22 hospitals across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with 15 more running week long pilots, and that it charged per scan, roughly Rs 25 to 40, alongside an annual subscription of $1,000 to $10,000. By late 2024, the company’s own website claimed a larger footprint: 60 plus medical centres, 60,000 patients served, radiologists using the platform in seven or more states, and named testimonials from doctors at hospitals in Gurugram, Coimbatore, Tuticorin and Madurai.
That is the last point at which an independent record shows the company operating. The bewelldigital.com domain carried the real site through at least November 3, 2024, archived copies show. By March 2025, the domain redirected to a parking page, then briefly served an unrelated Indonesian online gambling site. By late 2025 through July 2026, it has 301 redirected to chicagomovingcompany.org, a moving company website with no connection to radiology or India. A business data aggregator, InstaFinancials, now lists BeWell Digital Technologies Private Limited’s website as that same unrelated domain, evidence the lapse shows up in the company’s own registry data too. No press release or founder statement explaining a shutdown or pivot has surfaced in the sources checked for this page.
The Indian legal entity itself has not been struck off. MCA sourced records show it as Active, with authorised share capital of Rs 1 lakh and paid up capital of a nominal Rs 10,000, typical of a startup whose real capital sits in a US parent. Its last recorded annual general meeting was September 30, 2023, and its last filed balance sheet covers the year ending March 31, 2023. No later compliance filings appear, consistent with a company that has stopped operating but not been formally wound up.

Read plainly: the company built and sold a real product to a real, growing list of hospitals for at least three years, and the customer testimonials on its own site name specific doctors and clinics rather than staying anonymous. What is missing is any independent confirmation of the later customer numbers, any account of why the company stopped, and any evidence of the larger funding round most startups of this age would need to keep growing. The domain evidence and the YC status field point the same direction: BeWell Digital is no longer an operating company, even though its Indian legal entity has not been formally closed.
What to watch
- Whether the Indian entity is eventually struck off by the Registrar of Companies for non-filing, which would formalise what the domain evidence already suggests.
- Any statement from Alagiri Senthilkumar or Vishnu Vardhana Balu about what happened to BeWell Digital or where they moved on to.
- Whether bewelldigital.com is ever reclaimed, which would settle whether this is a deliberate wind-down or simple non-renewal.
