Virtual care infrastructure · Diagnostics and point of care testing

Brick Health

A Miami startup that ran walk-in clinics selling diagnostics, nursing services and phlebotomy on a cash pay basis, built to give virtual physicians the vitals and labs a video visit cannot capture. Y Combinator now lists the company under Former Founders, and its website no longer resolves.

A menu built for a video visit

Brick Health's pitch was simple. A telemedicine visit can go only so far without a body in the room, so the company set up walk-in stops where a patient referred by a virtual doctor could get measured in person. Its 2021 site listed a fixed menu with posted cash prices: vitals for $19, orthostatic vitals taken supine, sitting and standing for $34, a twenty second digital recording of cardiac, pulmonary and abdominal sounds for $29, high definition ear, nose and throat imaging, cerumen removal by irrigation for $39 in one ear or $78 in both, a twelve lead electrocardiogram for non-urgent use, stool hemoccults, spirometry, peak flow and a rapid urine test.

The workflow ran in five steps, according to the site. A patient sees a virtual physician. The provider submits an order to Brick Health through a dashboard or an API, built from a menu of services. The patient walks into a Brick Health facility on a non-urgent, walk-in basis. A staff member performs the services and uploads results to the company's clinical dashboard, with lab results taking a few days. The results are then pushed into the virtual clinician's electronic medical record, either by hand or through an API integration.

The gap it tried to close

The company framed itself as an answer to two problems created by the same period. Telemedicine, it said, had received a huge boost during the pandemic, despite the fact that it has major limitations in terms of care quality and continuity, since there's only so much you can diagnose without vitals, auscultation, otoscopy, spirometry, EKGs, or labs. At the same time, clinics across the country are currently seeing massively reduced foot traffic from patients, leaving staff, facilities and devices underused at a time when budgets were tighter than ever.

Brick Health's answer was to route the first group's patients into the second group's spare capacity, paid for directly by the patient rather than billed through insurance. The site described this as a way for the clinic to better utilize its equipment and staff without eating up any of the physician's time, while giving the virtual provider data it could not otherwise collect.

Who built it, and what is not known

Y Combinator's directory credits Brick Health with the description that it is providing the in-person medical infrastructure that bridges the gap in care quality and scope between virtual and in-person care, and tags the company as Miami based with a Former Founders label, a status YC applies to companies whose original founders are no longer running them. No individual founder is named on any page found for this profile, no funding round is disclosed anywhere in the record, and the Y Combinator listing does not show a batch.

The company's website, in a 2021 copyright line, credited the site to Bagel Health, Inc. rather than to any entity called Brick Health. A name search of Florida's Division of Corporations turns up no active or inactive filing under either Brick Health or Bagel Health, and a national Form D name search under both names returns no matching filer either. Two similarly named Form D filings did surface in that search: one from Second Door Health Inc., based in Phoenix, Arizona, and one from Brick Dynamics Inc., based in Miami's Brickell neighborhood. Both list different officers and different lines of business from anything on Brick Health's own site, and neither is shown to be connected to this company on the present record.

From a live site to no trace

The most recent capture of brick.health held by the Internet Archive is dated December 2, 2023, and its content, including the 2021 copyright line, appears unchanged from the site's earliest known form. A direct lookup of the domain in September 2026, done for this profile, failed to resolve at all, meaning the address that once carried the company's pricing menu no longer points anywhere. Combined with the Former Founders tag on Y Combinator's directory, the record points to a company that built and priced a service, then stopped operating it, without a public announcement of a shutdown, a sale or a pivot turning up in this search.

What is proven, and what is still claimed

Operations track. Brick Health has no FDA 510(k) or PMA record, no registered clinical trial, no NIH or NSF award, and no PubMed entry under its name. Its evidence sits almost entirely in its own site and in Y Combinator's directory listing of it, plus the absence of the corporate and securities filings a funded health startup would normally leave behind.

Read plainly, everything about Brick Health that can be checked against a public record says it was small: no clinical, regulatory or securities filing bears its name anywhere in the databases searched for this profile. What can be checked comes almost entirely from the company's own site and from Y Combinator's directory listing of it, and both describe a business rather than a study, a fixed menu of walk-in services sold directly to patients at posted prices, aimed at virtual clinics that needed a body in the room.

What to watch

  • Whether a Florida, Delaware or other state filing surfaces under a name not yet searched, since Bagel Health, Inc. appears only in a copyright line and has not been confirmed as the operating entity behind Brick Health.
  • Whether a founder, investor or acquirer ever goes on record about why the company stopped operating.
  • Whether the company's Y Combinator batch and any funding amount become public.
