Osmind
An electronic health record for psychiatry practices delivering ketamine, esketamine and TMS, and a real world evidence business built on what those practices record. The software has scaled past a thousand clinics. The published evidence is real, and narrower than the headline numbers suggest.
Pen, paper and a spreadsheet
Before Osmind wrote any software, its two founders asked psychiatrists what the job actually looked like. The answers were unglamorous. Clinicians described writing treatment plans on paper, sending patients home with paper symptom surveys and hoping they came back, and losing track of people between visits.
DFJ Growth, which later led the company’s Series B, put it in a sentence: providers were “often keeping track of specific treatments using an Excel spreadsheet (or even pen and paper!).”
That was the opening. Not a molecule, not a device. A ledger.
Two months after launching, in August 2020, Osmind had 30 practices and about 3,000 patients. Six years on it says it is past a thousand.
The gap the clinics sit in
Osmind sells into a corner of psychiatry that barely existed as a named category a decade ago: clinics that deliver procedures, not prescriptions alone. TMS. Electroconvulsive therapy. Esketamine. Ketamine infusions. The regulatory ground under those last two is not the same, and the difference matters.
In 2019 the FDA approved Spravato, esketamine nasal spray, for treatment resistant depression in adults, alongside an oral antidepressant. It is available only through a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy, which requires the drug to be given in a certified health care setting with the patient monitored for at least two hours. In January 2025 the FDA approved it as a standalone treatment too.
Generic ketamine is a different case. The FDA approved it in 1970 as an anesthetic and it is not approved for any psychiatric indication. Clinics infusing it for depression prescribe off label, and in October 2023 the FDA warned about compounded ketamine marketed for psychiatric use, noting such products sit outside any REMS and that it has not established safe or effective dosing of ketamine for any psychiatric indication.
So one practice can run one treatment inside a federal safety program and another outside the approval system entirely, each with different paperwork, monitoring and insurance arguments. Legacy software was not built for either. That is the seam Osmind went after.
A business student and a medical student
Lucia Huang and Jimmy Qian met at Stanford in the autumn of 2019, in a health information technology class. She was at the business school after a chemistry degree at Yale, a stint at Warburg Pincus and an operating role at the AI drug discovery company Verge Genomics. He was in the medical school with a masters in biomedical data science. Both grew up in the Bay Area and watched people their own age struggle. Huang has spoken about losing friends and swim team members while she was still at school. Qian left the MD program to start the company.
Osmind incorporated in 2020, went through Y Combinator’s Summer 2020 batch, and raised a $2 million seed led by General Catalyst that October. A $15 million Series A led by Future Ventures followed in July 2021. In May 2022 DFJ Growth led a $40 million Series B, bringing the reported total to $57 million.
From thirty clinics to a network
The growth is unusually well documented, because each announcement carried a number. Thirty practices in August 2020. More than 125 across 30 states that October. More than 215 in 38 states at the Series A. Over 400 clinics in 45 states by early 2023. More than 800 by January 2025, when William Sauvé, who had helped build the TMS chain Greenbrook, joined as chief medical officer. Past a thousand by 2026.
The product changed shape too. What began as an EHR at a published $249 per clinician per month now sits under two service tiers adding credentialing, payer contracts, revenue cycle management and group purchasing on Spravato. It now calls itself a network rather than a software vendor.

Read plainly: this is one of the better documented real world evidence programs in private health IT, and the usual caution applies. These are not randomized trials, the cohorts that survive to analysis are a fraction of those described, the authors name attrition as a limitation, and the studies are funded and largely staffed by the company whose dataset is being evaluated. The 2026 Frontiers paper says so in its own disclosure. The evidence is useful. It is not a trial.
What to watch
- Whether Osmind appears on the Certified Health IT Product List. State rules and CMS programs increasingly ask for certified technology.
- A Form D or a funding announcement. Nothing has been reported since May 2022.
- The Oregon psilocybin work, presented with Robin Carhart-Harris and colleagues, which puts the platform in front of a second regulatory question.
