10x

An AI calling and texting agent that works a dental practice's overdue recall list, books the confirmed appointment, and writes it straight into the practice's scheduling software. Y Combinator Winter 2025, live commercially in San Francisco.

The list nobody works

Every dental practice has one: a few hundred names of people who are overdue for a cleaning, or who were told they needed a filling and never came back to schedule it. The front desk means to call them. Between checking patients in, answering the phone that is already ringing, and filing insurance claims, it rarely happens.

“That list - the patients who drifted off, the treatment plans that were diagnosed but never scheduled - is where the money goes to die,” a YesPress writeup of the company put it in July 2026.

10x connects to a practice's existing patient database, identifies three kinds of missed revenue, hygiene recalls, lapsed patients, and unscheduled treatment, and then calls and texts those patients until one of two things happens: they book, or they say no. When they book, the appointment writes back into the practice management system on its own, with no manual re-entry.

The problem it is chasing

“It's 2026 and dentists STILL aren't making enough money,” the company said in its Y Combinator launch post, arguing that millions of dollars in opportunity already sit in a practice's own database and simply never turn into booked appointments.

The underlying cause, per the YesPress account, is arithmetic rather than neglect: a front desk that is already handling live calls and check-ins cannot also dial hundreds of overdue patients a day, work through each person's scheduling excuse, and log the result. Practices report that hiring and keeping front-desk staff has gotten harder, which only widens the gap. A skipped recall does not announce itself the way a broken chair does. It just shows up months later as empty slots on the calendar.

10x's answer is to treat that specific task, high volume, repetitive, and easy to script, as work for an AI rather than a person. “We build AI employees for dental practices,” Max Bohun wrote in a hiring post for the company, adding, “We're live in the largest privately owned dental group in Chicago.”

Founders

Max Bohun and Aman Madhav Garg are the company's two co-founders, and 10x is not their first attempt at this thesis. Bohun had worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant and course assistant at Cornell University, according to a February 2025 article in The American Bazaar. Garg had worked as a software and machine learning engineer and was a co-founder at a company called decodeLabs before joining Bohun.

Their LinkedIn profiles describe Bohun as Cornell class of 2025 and Garg as Cornell class of 2026, both listing 10x and its Y Combinator Winter 2025 batch.

From grading papers to dental chairs

10x began as GradeWiz, an AI teaching assistant that graded student coursework and gave next-day feedback, also part of Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch. “9 out of 10 educators would rather lose a kidney than grade another assignment,” the company said in its GradeWiz launch post, claiming the tool had graded more than 30,000 submissions at Penn State, Cornell, Hunter, Cal Poly and Syracuse. The American Bazaar covered the launch independently in February 2025, confirming the founder names, the university list, and Garg's prior role at decodeLabs.

Within the same YC cycle, the founders wound GradeWiz down and rebuilt around a different market: dental practice revenue recovery. The thesis carried over unchanged. Take a repetitive, human-bottlenecked task and let AI do it at volume, a TA doing the work of ten becomes a front-desk caller doing the work of many. The company's name survived the pivot; the product did not.

What is proven, and what is still claimed

Operations track. 10x makes no FDA or clinical claims, so this page reads it the way software companies get read: named customers, integrations, security claims, and money on the record, weighed against what the company says on its own site.

Read plainly: 10x has a working product with real practice management integrations and a clear, cheap thesis. The revenue and conversion numbers, the customer names, and the security claims all come from the company itself. Nothing filed with the SEC and no named customer confirms any of it from the outside yet.

What to watch

  • Whether the company names any of the dental groups it says it works with.
  • A Form D or other SEC filing that would confirm capital raised under the 10x or GradeWiz name.
  • Independent measurement of the 16% conversion figure, rather than the company's own reporting.
  • Whether the founding engineer and go to market hires the company was recruiting for in 2026 pan out, and how fast the practice count grows past the Chicago and Sacramento groups it names.
