Arini
A voice AI receptionist built for dental practices and dental service organizations, answering calls and texts and booking appointments directly into a clinic's existing scheduling software. Founded in 2024, it has grown from a two-location pilot to a company that says it serves hundreds of practices.
Door to door
Before Arini was a product, it was a pair of engineers knocking on the doors of dental offices. Abdul Jamjoom and Rami Rustom, who had met in high school in Jordan, spent time shadowing dentists and their front desk staff, watching the daily grind of a job that turns out to be mostly a phone job.
What they saw was a bottleneck. Dental front desks answer calls, book cleanings, verify insurance, and confirm appointments, often while a patient is standing at the counter and the phone is also ringing. According to Arini's own account of that research, the front desk spends about six hours a day on the phone and still misses roughly a third of incoming calls. Each of those missed calls is a patient who does not get on the schedule.
The problem
Arini's pitch rests on a specific claim about how dental scheduling actually works: even though most clinics have an online booking form, patients still call, and staff still call patients back to confirm. Phones, not web forms, remain the backbone of how appointments get booked. Arini's Y Combinator profile puts the scale of the gap at 80 percent of appointments still booked by phone, with clinics missing 20 to 30 percent of inbound calls, worth what the company describes as millions of dollars in lost revenue every month industry wide.
Behind that gap sits a staffing problem. Healthcare has faced a persistent front desk staffing shortage since the COVID era, and dental offices are not exempt. Finding, training, and retaining a receptionist who knows a practice's scheduling rules, insurance quirks, and patient history takes time that many small and mid sized practices do not have.
Founders
Jamjoom studied computer science at Harvard, where his coursework touched on natural language processing for low resource languages, and later led search and applied AI work at Threads, an enterprise communication tool that was acquired by Shopify. Rustom studied computer science at MIT and joined Threads about a year after Jamjoom, where the two led Threads' AI team together, automating customer support, document feedback, and notification triage before turning to dentistry.
That shared background shows up in Arini's early investor list. One of its named backers, SBXi, describes itself on its own site as a fund that backs MIT founders, a detail that lines up with Rustom's MIT degree. The company's public funding record, compiled by Tracxn and VCBacked, puts total raised at $500,000 in a single seed round announced in February 2024, with Y Combinator, SBXi, and Sanabil named as investors.
From pilot to platform
The earliest documented deployment on Arini's own site is Unified Dental Care, an eight location dental support organization in Michigan. In October 2024, Arini started as an overflow call handler at two pilot locations. Within five days, according to the company's case study, Unified decided to route every inbound call through Arini rather than just the overflow, and within a month had rolled it out to all locations.
From there, Arini's own materials describe a widening product line: an "AI Patient Engagement" suite covering inbound calls, outbound reactivation of inactive patients, and online scheduling; a "Watchtower" analytics layer that tracks the performance of each AI agent and location; and an "Enterprise AI Partner" track in which Arini's own engineers work inside a large dental group to automate tasks well beyond the phone, including insurance verification, claims and denial handling, and procurement. That last piece marks a shift from a single voice AI product toward what the company now calls, in its own words, the operating system for dental groups.
What is proven, and what is still claimed
| Evidence | What the record shows | Source type |
|---|---|---|
| Y Combinator listing | Y Combinator's company page lists Arini in the Winter 2024 (W24) batch, founded 2024, based in San Francisco, with primary partner Pete Koomen and a team of 17. | Independent |
| Seed funding | Tracxn and VCBacked both record Arini's total funding as $500,000 in one seed round, announced February 2024, naming Y Combinator, SBXi, and Sanabil as investors. | Independent |
| Later funding claims | Signalbase, an automated funding news site, separately posted that Arini "secured $500,000 in new funding" and, in a later item, that it "secured $100K in new capital," both using nearly identical boilerplate about 15,000 calls handled daily. Neither figure appears as a distinct additional round in Tracxn's total, and no press release or filing corroborates either as new money on top of the seed. | Differs from record |
| SEC Form D | An EDGAR company search for Arini returns no filing tied to the dental company. The only entities named Arini on EDGAR are an unrelated hedge fund complex, Arini Capital Management, whose funds file under names like Arini Credit US Fund LP. | Not found |
| Named customers | Arini's own site publishes case studies naming Unified Dental Care (an 8 location Michigan DSO), Normandy Lake Dentistry (Florida, multi location), Kare Mobile (a mobile, direct to consumer DSO), Wolfe Dental, Pearl Street Dental Partners, Snow Orthodontics, and Sunrise Oral Surgery, each with a named executive quote and reported results. | Company-stated |
| PMS integrations | A third party comparison site describes Arini as having integrations with Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Open Dental, plus a longer list that includes Denticon, Curve Dental, CareStack, and Cloud9, but notes that Arini's own integrations page returned a 404 error as of August 2026 and that no named integration list is published on Arini's site. | Differs from company site |
| Multilingual support | Review.dental flags a direct conflict: Arini's marketing describes handling calls in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, and other languages, while a separate 2026 review characterizes Arini as English first with limited multilingual support. | Conflicting claims |
| Independent user reviews | As of mid 2026, review.dental found no substantive third party review base on sites such as G2 or Capterra to check Arini's claim of being trusted by hundreds of DSOs, dental groups, and private practices. | Not found |
Read plainly: the case studies on Arini's own site are consistent with each other and with the product's stated purpose, and outside sources agree on the basic facts of who founded the company, when, and with how much seed money. Where the record gets thinner is exactly where a buyer would want it strongest, a stable list of which practice management systems it actually writes into, and independent reviews at the scale Arini claims to operate at.
What to watch
- Whether Arini discloses a funding round beyond the $500,000 seed, and whether any Form D eventually appears on EDGAR under the company's own name.
- A stable, named list of supported practice management systems once the company's integrations page is fixed.
- Independent user reviews on sites like G2 or Capterra that would let a buyer check the "hundreds of DSOs" claim against something other than Arini's own case studies.
- Whether the newer Enterprise AI Partner and procurement products get their own named customer results, the way the core receptionist product already does.
