Adravision
A Singapore founded, dentist led startup building AI that reads dental X-rays and records, then turns them into charting, patient reports and insurance claim support. Its first FDA cleared product measures bone loss for periodontal disease, and its newer tools reach into claims and patient messaging.
A dentist with a stopwatch problem
Hamed Fesharaki spent his days moving between patients at his own clinics in Singapore, reading bitewing and periapical X-rays in the minutes he had between appointments. Dental school teaches how to read a radiograph, he has said, but it takes years to get fast and reliable at it, and a rushed read costs a clinic both diagnoses and revenue. He wanted a second set of eyes, an experienced one, built into the software he already used.
That is the pitch Adravision has carried since 2021: put an AI reviewer between the X-ray and the chart, so a general dentist reads radiographs closer to the standard of a specialist, and so a claim leaves the office with the evidence already attached.
The gap it is aimed at
Two problems sit side by side in dentistry. On the clinical side, radiograph interpretation is operator dependent, and periodontal disease alone is common enough that the American Academy of Periodontology has put the untreated cost to the U.S. economy at about 154 billion dollars, a figure Adravision has cited in its own materials. On the administrative side, dental insurers process enormous volumes of X-rays, narratives and claim forms by hand, and a clinic often submits a claim without knowing whether it will be approved.
Adravision's answer is the same underlying model applied at both ends: parse the image and the record, then generate a structured output, whether that output is a chart entry, a plain language patient report or a prediction of whether a given insurance code will be accepted.
Three founders, three disciplines
Fesharaki, the CEO, holds a bachelor of dental science from Trinity College Dublin and had been a dentist and clinic owner for roughly a decade before Adravision, including what he has described as the first open concept dental clinics in Singapore, where patients could watch the sterilization and lab work.
Yasaman Nemat, sometimes credited as Yasaman Nematbakhsh, is the company's chief product officer. She holds a PhD in biomedical engineering from the National University of Singapore, where her research covered the mechanical properties of breast cancer cells, along with a bachelor's and master's in engineering from Georgia Tech. Before Adravision she co-founded a biotech education startup that sold kits in five countries and won a global education award, and she has worked on imaging systems aimed at detecting hard to see cancers.
Shifeng Liu, credited in some records as Liushifeng Chen, is the chief technology officer and a computer vision specialist, with prior work on object detection for one of Asia's first autonomous buses, product classification for e-commerce platforms and wind farm site assessment tools.
From a Y Combinator batch to an FDA clearance
Adravision went through Y Combinator's Summer 2021 batch, and by the time TechCrunch covered the company that August it had raised 250,000 dollars and was running pilots in a handful of clinics while working toward its first FDA clearance, which Fesharaki then expected within six to nine months. The clearance took closer to two and a half years. On December 5, 2023, the FDA cleared Adravision Perio, a piece of software that measures mesial and distal bone levels on bitewing and periapical radiographs to support periodontal diagnosis, a narrower claim than the cavity detection ambition described in 2021.
In early 2024 the company joined the gener8tor backed Bronze Valley Investment Accelerator, one of five companies chosen for that spring's cohort, which came with a 100,000 dollar investment and a program requirement to stand up operations in Birmingham, Alabama for twelve weeks. Adravision has since listed Atlanta, Georgia as a second base and become part of Georgia Tech's Advanced Technology Development Center portfolio, while continuing to describe Singapore as central to its story.
That same year, Adravision struck a product partnership with Fluent, a dental analytics and utilization review firm backed by the private equity group Beekman, which agreed in October 2024 to build Adravision's AI into its payer facing platform. By 2026 the company's own updates describe a wider product line: AdraChat, a WhatsApp based front desk assistant for Singapore clinics, and a claim probability pre-check that estimates, before submission, whether a given insurance code is likely to be accepted.

Read plainly, Adravision has one narrow, verifiable FDA clearance for a periodontal measurement tool, filed under a company name, Adra Corporation, that differs from the Adravision brand. The broader claim, that its AI reads X-rays, predicts claim approval and drives down denials, rests on the company's own descriptions and a single named software partner rather than published data, a named clinic, or a named insurer.
