Claim Health
An AI platform built to automate billing for home health, hospice and home care agencies, from the first referral to the last reimbursement. Founded in 2025, it went through Y Combinator, then announced a $4.4 million seed round in January 2026.
158 clicks
In their Y Combinator launch post, Kevin Calcado and Jayen Ram, who goes by JJ, described counting the steps it took one of their first customers to submit a single insurance claim. The number was 158 clicks.
That is the problem Claim Health was built to shrink. The company’s platform is meant to take over the referral-to-reimbursement workflow for home health, hospice, home care and skilled nursing agencies: intake, eligibility checks, prior authorization, claim submission, denial management and payment reconciliation, so that the people who used to click through all of it can spend their time on the claims that actually need a judgment call.
The problem
Post-acute care, the corner of healthcare that treats people at home or in a nursing facility after a hospital stay or as a long-term alternative to one, runs on infrastructure that has not kept pace with the rest of the industry. Agencies still lean on faxed referrals, spreadsheet trackers and paperwork that lives, as Claim Health’s own website puts it, in someone’s memory.
Claim Health says post-acute care is a $400 billion market losing more than $20 billion a year to revenue leakage caused by that broken infrastructure, and that its early customers were losing upwards of 15% of their revenue annually before adopting the platform. Those are the company’s own figures, not numbers from an independent study. What is not in dispute is the operational pressure: referral volumes into post-acute care are now above pre-pandemic levels, home health volume is projected to keep growing, and providers are doing it with payer rules that keep changing and staff that are hard to hire. Some home health and home care agencies, Calcado and Ram wrote, have had to turn away patients simply because they could not process the paperwork fast enough to take them on.
Founders
Kevin Calcado and Jayen Ram met at Dandy, a dental technology company, where Calcado joined as the first go-to-market hire and helped take the business from zero to nine-figure revenue in under three years, according to an interview he gave the startup back-office provider Every. Ram is a Stanford computer science graduate and a former Facebook engineer who was an early engineering hire at Dandy, per Claim Health’s own funding announcement, helping scale that platform to thousands of practices across the country.
The two started Claim Health in 2025 after what they describe as hundreds of conversations with post-acute operators who kept naming the same bottleneck: getting paid. They joined Y Combinator’s Spring 2025 batch, and in the Every interview, Calcado credited the company’s early progress to shipping fast and to spending weeks working out of customers’ offices to see how billing actually gets done day to day.
From accelerator to seed round
Claim Health rolled its first product out to early customers during and after Y Combinator, then launched publicly with a demo and a call for at-home care agencies to connect. By January 2026 the company said it had grown revenue 30 times over in under a year since the YC batch, and it named Ascend Health, Interim HealthCare and Home Care RN as early customers reporting more than 50% reductions in administrative workload, up to four times the referral throughput and 30% to 50% fewer preventable denials.
On January 21, 2026, Claim Health announced a $4.4 million seed round led by Maverick Ventures, with Peak XV, Y Combinator and DHVP also named as participants, alongside what the release called C-suite executives at large post-acute care providers. The announcement was picked up by trade outlets including HIT Consultant and Pulse 2.0 within two days. As of this writing, no SEC Form D naming Claim Health has surfaced in EDGAR, so the filing record behind that round is still blank.
What is proven, and what is still claimed

Read plainly: Claim Health is a real, accelerator-backed company with a specific product and a funding announcement covered by more than one outlet. Almost everything past that, the size of the raise, who is using the product, and how well it works, currently rests on what the company itself has said. The round that press coverage describes has not yet shown up as a filing.
What to watch
- Whether a Form D or other SEC filing tied to the $4.4 million round appears in EDGAR.
- Independent confirmation that Ascend Health, Interim HealthCare and Home Care RN are paying customers.
- Named EHR or clearinghouse integrations, such as PointClickCare or MatrixCare, rather than a general description.
- Whether the reported 30 times revenue growth holds up as the company reports on a longer track record.
