Clinikally

A telemedicine platform and online pharmacy for dermatology, hair and wellness care in India, built by a Stanford-trained AI researcher and his mother's dermatology practice. It has disclosed $3.1 million in funding since 2022 and, per financials filed with India's corporate registry, crossed roughly $3.7 million in revenue for the year ending March 2025.

A face scan, a doctor, a delivery

A user opens Clinikally's site and answers a short questionnaire about a skin or hair concern, often with a photo attached. The company says a specialty provider is assigned in under 30 minutes, with next day appointments also on offer. The consultation ends with a treatment plan built from a mix of prescription-grade and over the counter products, most of them sold through Clinikally's own online pharmacy, then shipped to the patient's door.

The platform treats conditions like acne, eczema, hyperpigmentation and pattern hair loss, and it has expanded into nutrition and general wellness. Alongside the marketplace, Clinikally sells a private label line, including what it describes as a patented moisturising cream built on its own delivery technology.

The gap it is aimed at

India has very few dermatologists relative to its population, and the company has cited that shortage differently at different points: one dermatologist for roughly every 130,000 to 150,000 people in a 2026 interview, and one for every 200,000 in its original 2022 Y Combinator launch post. Whichever figure is used, the practical result is the same: patients in smaller cities often cannot see a dermatologist without a long trip, and the company's pitch is that a video or chat consultation plus a curated product list can substitute for at least the lower acuity share of that need.

The Covid-19 pandemic is the inflection point the founder points to. Teleconsultation adoption jumped during lockdowns, and Clinikally built its business on the assumption that a meaningful share of dermatology and haircare visits, especially routine, chronic condition management, do not require an in-person exam every time.

Founders

Clinikally was started by Arjun Soin, a Stanford graduate in computer science and economics who did AI research at Stanford's Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging, focused on radiology and dermatology imaging tools. Before founding the company he worked in AI and data engineering roles at Microsoft Healthcare, Amazon's Audible, and health AI startup Curai Health, and was an early team member at the Web3 project GetSafle.

“I was fortunate to recognise this untapped potential through the chain of dermatology clinics run by my mother, a practising dermatologist with over 20+ years of experience, who is now Clinikally’s Chief Medical Officer.”

That is Dr. Simal Soin, who according to Clinikally's own Y Combinator launch material runs one of India's largest dermatology practices. India's corporate registry lists Simal Soin as a current director of Clinikally Digital Health Private Limited, and shows three related companies, including Dr. Simal Soin Skincare Private Limited, sharing a common director with Clinikally. The registry also shows two other people, Nishant Maggon and Sonal Makhija, appointed as directors alongside Arjun Soin on the company's incorporation date, 20 July 2021.

From launch to Clara

Clinikally joined Y Combinator's Summer 2022 batch and disclosed a $500,000 pre-seed round in July 2022, backed by Shutterstock founder Jon Oringer's Parento Holdings and ReNew Power founder Sumant Sinha, among others. By its Y Combinator launch, roughly 30 months after starting, the company said it had served over 1,000,000 users across 500 cities.

In September 2023 it raised $2.6 million from Y Combinator, Tribe Capital, Goodwater Capital, Sequoia Scout Fund and Rebel Fund, plus a group of angel investors including Dropbox co-founder Arash Ferdowsi and CRED founder Kunal Shah. At that point founder and CEO Soin still held more than 90 percent of the company, according to Entrackr's reporting. Entrackr later reported that Clinikally had served 1.5 million customers within three years of launch, with a 5,000 SKU pharmacy spanning 250 brands.

The most recent filed financials, for the year ending March 2025, show revenue of Rs 31.1 crore, up 84.4 percent from Rs 16.8 crore the prior year, alongside a net loss of Rs 89.1 lakh that had narrowed from the year before. In 2025 the company launched Clara, an AI assistant that runs facial and hair analysis, explains prescriptions, and recommends products, which it now positions as the main entry point into its dermatology platform.

What is proven, and what is still claimed

Operations track. Clinikally is a consumer telehealth and e-pharmacy business, not a device or drug developer. Searches of FDA, clinical trial registry, NIH, NSF and PubMed records turned up nothing under the company's name, which is expected for this kind of business and is not itself a red flag. The record here instead rests on India's corporate registry, independent press reporting and filed financial statements.

Read plainly: the corporate registry and the filed financial numbers are solid ground, a small, fast-growing, still loss-making pharmacy and telehealth business with real revenue and a narrowing loss. The funding story is thinner than the user-growth story, resting on two independently reported rounds worth $3.1 million against an unverified aggregator claim of $6.6 million that this research could not corroborate.

What to watch

  • Whether the $6.6 million total funding claim gets corroborated by a named third round, since only two rounds worth $3.1 million have independent reporting.
  • FY26 filed financials, for the year ending March 2026, to see whether the narrowing loss trend continues toward profitability.
  • Regulatory attention to Clara, the AI assistant that processes facial photos and prescriptions, as India's data protection and telemedicine rules develop.
  • Any published drug license or pharmacy registration detail for the online pharmacy side of the business, which this research did not find.
