Health tech · Revenue cycle automation
Fuse
A two person, London based startup building AI tools to automate the front end of US medical billing: patient intake, insurance verification and claims. It came out of Y Combinator promising to catch insurer underpayments and has since broadened its pitch, with no named customers or disclosed funding yet on the public record.
A black hole, not a ledger
The founders of Fuse say the idea came from a repeated conversation with healthcare provider executives who told them, again and again, that they had no idea whether their revenue was accurate. One executive put it more bluntly: their insurance claims process was a black hole.
That is the problem Fuse set out to fix when it launched out of Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch. In its original pitch, the company described itself as AI powered contract and remittance analytics built to catch insurers quietly underpaying providers. By the time its public website reached its current form, the framing had widened. Fuse now describes itself as automation for the front end of the revenue cycle: patient intake, CPT code level insurance verification, payer portal checks, and upfront cost estimates, feeding into claims and a revenue intelligence dashboard.
Fifty contracts, one hospital
The case Fuse makes for itself rests on the complexity of US provider to payer billing. An average hospital carries more than 50 contracts with insurers, each with different reimbursement rates for the same procedure, according to the company's own launch materials. Verifying that a claim was paid at the contracted rate, across that many agreements, is expensive and in practice close to impossible for most billing teams to do by hand.
Fuse adds two forces on top of that complexity: insurers using sophisticated models to find subtle underpayments, and a wave of provider mergers forcing practices to consolidate contracts and tracking systems that were never built to talk to each other. The result, per the company, is providers giving up as much as 11 percent of topline revenue, at a time when many have run negative operating margins since the COVID 19 pandemic.
None of those figures are independently verified in the sources reviewed here. They come from Fuse's own launch materials and are presented as the company's framing, not as established fact.
Two Cambridge classmates
Sho Sugihara and Oscar Wilsby met during their first week as undergraduates at Cambridge. Sugihara later worked as a consultant at McKinsey, including on data analytics projects for some of the largest healthcare providers and insurers in the world, before co-founding a UK consumer credit startup in 2017. That company started as Portify, helping gig economy workers manage their finances with open banking data, then rebranded to Pave in 2022 as it pivoted toward credit building, a product that reached close to 500,000 registered users. Sugihara has described that earlier venture as growing from zero to 6 million dollars in annual recurring revenue within twelve months.
Wilsby's route ran through the same university from a different direction. He completed an MEng and PhD in machine learning and computational physics at Cambridge, working in research divisions at McLaren F1 and Dyson before turning to healthcare data. Fuse's own account credits him with building payments and credit analytics models that outperformed Experian, work it says helped power that same earlier fintech venture to a multi million dollar run rate.
Both men are listed as directors of Fuse Analytics Limited, the company's UK operating entity, appointed on the day it was incorporated: April 12, 2024. Sugihara is British and Wilsby is Swedish, and UK Companies House records show both give their correspondence address as the company's registered office on City Road in London.
From YC to a Delaware parent
Fuse went through Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch under partner Tom Blomfield, the Monzo co-founder, with a team of three at the time. UK filings show the more conventional plumbing behind a YC company: Fuse Analytics Limited, the London subsidiary, is majority owned by a Delaware entity called Fuse Insight Inc, which UK records list as holding 75 percent or more of the voting rights and the power to appoint directors. That is the standard shape for a YC startup that has flipped its capital structure to a US parent, though no US federal offering filing for either name turned up in the searches run for this page.
By 2026, PitchBook's data listed four venture investors as participants in an early stage round for the company: Delight Ventures, Orange Collective, Speedinvest, and Transpose Platform Management. Delight Ventures, a Tokyo based venture firm, independently lists Fuse in its own public portfolio page, describing it as providing an automated financial and accounting solution using AI agents for US medical clinics. Neither PitchBook nor Delight Ventures discloses an amount or a closing date for that round.
What is proven, and what is still claimed
| Evidence | What the record shows | Source type |

| UK incorporation | Fuse Analytics Limited, company number 15639442, incorporated Apr 12, 2024, registered at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. SIC code 63990, other information service activities. | Public record |
| Officers | Sho Alexander Sugihara and Lars Oscar Wilsby, both listed as active directors, appointed Apr 12, 2024, both giving 128 City Road as their correspondence address. | Public record |
| Ownership | Persons with significant control filing names Fuse Insight Inc, a Delaware entity with a Dover registered agent address, holding 75 percent or more of voting rights and the right to appoint or remove directors, notified Apr 12, 2024. | Public record |

| Investors named | Delight Ventures, Orange Collective, Speedinvest, and Transpose Platform Management, listed as minority investors in a completed early stage round. Amount and closing date not disclosed. Delight Ventures separately lists Fuse in its own portfolio page. | Independent |
| SEC Form D | No filing found under Fuse Insight Inc, Fuse Analytics, or matching names in EDGAR searches for this page. | Not found |
| FDA, NIH, NSF, clinical trials, PubMed | No records tied to this company. Searches turn up other organizations and authors that happen to share the word Fuse. | Not found |
| Customers and traction | Company site claims it has helped hundreds of providers, automates 95 percent of claims, and cuts admin time by more than 90 percent with no named IT changes. No customer is named and no third party source confirms these figures. | Company-stated |
| Compliance | Company site states Fuse is HIPAA compliant and has achieved SOC 2 Type II compliance through external audit. No audit report or certifying body was located independently. | Company-stated |
Read plainly: the corporate paperwork checks out. A real UK company exists, its two named founders are its directors, and it is owned by a US parent in the pattern typical of a Y Combinator graduate. What does not yet exist in the public record is independent confirmation of the product working at scale: no named clinic, no filed funding round with a dollar figure attached, and no outside audit of the compliance and performance claims on the company's own site.
What to watch
- A US Form D or other federal filing that would put a number on the early stage round PitchBook and Delight Ventures describe without disclosing an amount.
- A named pilot or reference customer, given the company's claim of hundreds of providers served.
- Whether Fuse settles on a single product story: underpayment detection and contract analytics, as pitched at launch, or the broader front end automation platform its website now describes.
- Independent verification of the SOC 2 Type II claim.
